Announcing the 2018 Western Rite Vicariate Conference
The biennial conference of the Western Rite Vicariate will be held Tuesday, August 7 through Friday, August 10 at St. Peter Orthodox Church in Fort Worth, Texas.
Metropolitan JOSEPH will preside at all liturgical services and will be the keynote speaker.
Under the theme “Celebrating our Western Orthodox Culture,” the conference will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of the Western Rite Vicariate by Patriarch Alexander III and Metropolitan Antony. Particular attention will be drawn to the constituting Edict from Metropolitan Antony (of thrice-blessed memory) at the Archdiocese Convention in 1958.
Metropolitan Joseph will be joined by Bishop JOHN, the Auxiliary Bishop for the Western Rite, and the Very Reverend Edward Hughes, Vicar General for the Western Rite.
Mass will be celebrated daily, together with Vespers and Lauds (or Morning Prayer).
The conference begins with Vespers at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 7 August, followed by a formal welcome by His Eminence. Presentations will be given on Wednesday and Thursday. The final presentation, by Fr Hughes, will be on Friday morning. The Conference concludes at noon on Friday, 10 August.
In addition to the presentations, this year’s conference will include the ordination to the priesthood, by the hand of Metropolitan JOSEPH, of Rev. Dn. Theodore, newly installed Abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Our Lady & St Laurence (colloquially known as “Ladyminster”).
The fee for the conference is $200 (not including hotel), and includes all meals and transportation. A list of recommended hotels, with special conference rates, is included for accommodations.
Registration with deposit of $100 should be mailed no later than July 25.
Clergy and laity from Western Rite parishes of any canonical jurisdiction, and those interested in the Western Rite, are cordially invited. Please register using the registration form which is attached or visit the conference website:
